I met Khaled Barakeh, an artist and Syrian refugee in the city of Copenhagen. His artwork “MUTE” is a silent protest by 49 bodies wearing actual clothes that Syrian refugees were wearing. This work started in 2020 in front of the high court in Koblenz Germany, where Syrian regime officials were tried for the first time and brought to the light of justice. The work portrays a mute protest by people who cannot show they faces and who wish to, but cannot shout out loudly for freedom in ‘mute’ protest of dictatorships. In solidarity with Ukrainian refugees, Khaled was preparing for his exhibition in the city of Copenhagen. Check out his website: https://www.khaledbarakeh.com/index.html
